Yankee Designs opened it's doors in the National Historic Landmark town of Jacksonville, Oregon in the spring of 1978. Until 1991, this retail location offered a variety of souvenir garments to the many tourists that frequent this quaint, Southern Oregon mining town every summer...then in January when customer counts dwindled from summer's 300-400 per day to 3-4 per day, we twiddled our thumbs... So, we quickly branched out and began offering custom garment printing to an interesting mix of businesses, clubs, teams, and individuals. Over our thirty-one years in business, we have counted among our customers, the famous Britt Music Festivals, Oregon Shakespearean Festival, the Pear Blossom Run. the Providence Hospital-Mail Tribune Invitational Run, Southern Oregon University, Medford Jazz Festival, Crater Lake Rim Runs, Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair, Klamath Basin Bald Eagle Conference, Snowflake Festival, the Klamath Tribes, several government agencies and many, many more events, schools, businesses, and organizations. Every one of these customers offers a unique and exciting opportunity to either meet new people or renew friendships and create a product for them of which we can all feel proud.
In 1988, we constructed our current screenprinting shop "out in the woods" north of Chiloquin, which allowed our Klamath Basin relationships to grow. No longer running our business as a retail establishment and operating farther from town, we began consulting and delivering to our customer's homes and businesses.
We have a simple philosophy...called The Golden Rule, which has served us well...do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Are we here to make money? You bet...but we want to earn it!
We want our customers to get "As much as they can get!"
One of the first questions we often get in a customers first call is "How much do you charge for...?"
After years of responding, "Well, that depends upon what you want, how many, and how many colors you want on it", one of our owners started saying "Oh, as much as I can get..."
Most of the time that gets a laugh... We do like to joke around and make our customers feel like friends from the very beginning. We want our customers to be happy they've chosen to give us their business and walk away feeling they got a great product and a great value. In the end, it's the quality and integrity you display in your business that counts, not whether you made a bunch of money doing mediocre work for a lot of people to whom you were able to 'sell' your services.
